Version 1.23 Update Information & Message from the Devs

Thank you for playing STRANGER OF PARADISE FINAL FANTASY ORIGIN.

In our previous update, we released the Season Pass DLC 2 Mission: Wanderer of the Rift. However, certain aspects of this DLC lacked sufficient description and were unclear, which caused confusion.
We are deeply sorry for any inconvenience that this may have caused you.
To rectify this, we would like to use these patch notes to clarify a number of issues regarding Wanderer of the Rift, and outline our roadmap for the fixes we are planning in the future.

■The Rift Labyrinth
The rift labyrinth expands on the base game by adding a randomly generated end-game dungeon for players to explore and conquer.
In order to clear all 100 floors of this labyrinth, players will have to master the game's systems, equip items and relics with high levels of evocation and ultima affinity chaos effects (such as those that enhance abilities or raise base stats), and make full use of the monster quests that we will describe later in these patch notes.
Even on earlier floors this dungeon is a challenge, and as you progress, it only increases in difficulty. The key to completing this murderous maze is preparation. You will have to carefully select your equipment and consider your party's jobs and character builds, and complete quests for the monsters you will encounter in the Hall of the Dark Crystal.

■Relic Equipment
When obtaining a summon blessing for relic equipment by identifying an item, it will possess the following fixed special effects (regardless of the primary blessing's % effect):

▼Ifrit
When activating a combo ability from a normal attack, perfectly timing the activation will increase the power of the combo ability.

▼Shiva
Critical damage causes buildup of the slow debuff.

▼Ramuh
Normal attacks will recover additional MP based on your max MP. In addition, combo abilities cause buildup of the paralysis debuff.

▼Carbuncle
All abilities that can be used in other slots can now be set in the After Parry combo slot as well. Additionally, a successful parry restores MP.

▼Sylph
Enables you to evade more quickly during an attack. Evading refills your break gauge.

▼Titan
Grants an effect that nullifies a certain amount of damage based on the amount of time an enemy is targeting you.

▼Fenrir
After avoiding an enemy attack with evade invincibility, your next ability will cost reduced MP and is guaranteed to be a critical hit.

▼Alexander
On a successful parry, inflicts a debuff that decreases the enemy's strength, agility, stamina, intellect, spirit, and luck.

▼Leviathan
Increases MP recovery and max MP gained on a successful soul shield or soul burst.

▼Odin
Physical damage applies buildup of a debuff which causes vulnerability to all attacks.

▼Phoenix
No longer consume a potion to revive an ally. In addition, inflicting enough damage will grant you an effect that automatically revives you the next time you are knocked out.

▼Bahamut
On a successful soul shield, increases strength, agility, stamina, intellect, spirit, and luck. This effect can stack up to 20 times.

Activated blessing effects (whether buffs or debuffs) are quite potent, so even equipping just one relic item and setting a primary summon blessing will greatly enhance your combat prowess.
In addition, the higher the summon blessing effect's %, the more it will raise your base stats.
*Summon blessings not set as your primary summon blessing will also increase your base stats.

The stats raised by each summon blessing differ. The following is a general guide to each of their effects:
▼Offensive Ifrit / Odin / Bahamut
▼Defensive Stats: Carbuncle / Titan / Alexander
▼Agility Stats: Sylph / Shiva / Fenrir
▼Magic Stats: Ramuh / Leviathan / Phoenix

■Fusing
Fusing equipment lets you transfer the special effects of one piece of equipment (the material) to another piece of equipment (the primary equipment). Only equipment of the same category can be fused together.
Be aware that more arcanium crystals are required to fuse equipment with larger level gaps.
05鍛冶屋合成.jpgTransferring chaos effects and job affinities to higher level equipment is crucial for completing the rift labyrinth. If high-ranked dragon king trials in the rift labyrinth ever become too challenging, collecting anima crystals by clearing dragon king trial missions on the world map will be a necessary step on the road to victory.

●Fusing Relic Items with Summon Blessings
Fusing two items with the same summon blessing will increase the % of the blessing effect.
・If the primary item during fusion has a higher % effect, this effect will increase by +1.
・If the item used as a material during fusion has a higher % effect, its % will replace the primary item's % effect.

■Monster Effects
Each of the unique monsters that you can call to the Hall of the Dark Crystal offers a different monster quest. Completing these quests will grant you the ability to activate special buffs.
These buffs start out very potent, and can be further enhanced by leveling them up (max level: 30).
魔物育成レベル.pngIn addition, you can increase your affinity with monsters by feeding them or by completing rift gateways. Raising affinity high enough can trigger monster events when you call them to the Hall of the Dark Crystal. These events are marked by an exclamation point (!) above the monster's head, so make sure to chat with them when you see this symbol! (You can skip event dialogue by pressing the menu button, or fast forward by pressing the cancel button.)

Completing monster events grants you the following benefits:
・Specific events will become available. When these events trigger, the monster may give you a specific item, or you may earn its unique buff by completing certain conditions.
・You can acquire a monster bell that will allow you to summon that monster to aid you in battle.
・You can acquire monster memories.
*Monster memories have the following effects:
魔物思い出.png -Monster memories grant a small bonus to progress earned towards that monster's quest, and this bonus increases with each memory you have.
-Monster memories will be retained even when your dimension points are reset and you restart a floor.
-Monster memories can be acquired even after your affinity with that monster is maxed out. However, it's more efficient to obtain them through the monster events that occur before that point.

Acquiring monster memories make monster quests easier to complete even if your floor progress is reset, so collecting them will help you catch up when necessary.
Additionally, since some monster quests increase the efficiency by which you can raise affinity or complete other monster quests, choosing them wisely will help ease your journey through the labyrinth.

●Monster Quests During Multiplayer
During multiplayer, monster quests can be completed when their requirements are fulfilled by any player. Because of this, selecting jobs that fulfill conditions for active monsters will help earn buffs that benefit the party as a whole.

When participating in a multiplayer game, the status of guest players' monster quests and monster training will apply to the host's rift labyrinth as follows:
・Monster quest effects will be based on the host's monster quest progress.
・Guests' affinity with monsters will be reset when joining a multiplayer game.
・Any temporary items (such as monster food) a guest possesses will be removed when joining a multiplayer game.

A guest player's job will be tied to the host's monster quests, making it easier to level up jobs, etc. Guests will also benefit from the host's monster quest effects, and monster memories will also become easier to acquire.

Finally, when the host finishes the rift labyrinth, the party will be disbanded, and players will be able to choose one of the following when resuming their progress on the world map:
・Resume from the in-progress solo rift labyrinth the player came from
・Resume from the multiplayer rift labyrinth

After leaving a multiplayer room, you can choose to resume the rift labyrinth that you were participating in during your multiplayer game.
Alternatively, you can choose to resume progress from the solo rift labyrinth that you were working on before joining multiplayer. In this case, you will lose any temporary or unidentified items you acquired during multiplayer, but you will keep any equipment, monster memories, and fusion materials you earned.
*A guest's max floor record will be updated if they participate in and clear that floor during multiplayer.

■Purpose of Version 1.23 Fixes
●Gateway Reward Rework
The number of dragon treasures earned from high-difficulty gateways (such as those that require you to defeat a boss, bosses, or all enemies) have been increased. In addition, the drop rate for equipment with powerful chaos effects in these gateways has also been increased.

The rewards originally offered for completing high-difficulty gateways had been balanced to provide sufficient incentive. However, many players felt they were not high enough to justify the challenge these missions presented, and so engagement remained low. To resolve this issue, we have increased the rewards obtainable for completion.

Specifically, this fix adjusts the internal makeup of the high-difficulty gateways mentioned above to offer rewards as if a dragon king trial is enabled. (This is an under the hood change, so dragon king trials will not trigger in these missions unless they are set separately.)
Because of this, not only will the amount of dragon treasures earned increase, but equipment with powerful chaos effects will also drop with greater frequency.
We hope you all find these missions more rewarding now, and challenge them when your dimension points and other conditions allow.

●Arcanium Acquisition Rework
Dismantling unidentified relic equipment will now produce arcanium.
(Depending on the relic dismantled, you will acquire arcanium powder, arcanium elixir, or arcanium crystals.)
We had originally envisioned that players would sift through unidentified items obtained on floor 21 and higher of the rift labyrinth, and discard those they felt they didn't need. However, many players felt it was a waste to simply throw away the unidentified items they had worked so hard to acquire. After much thought, we came to the conclusion that this was not a positive experience from a user's perspective, so we have changed it so that dismantling unidentified items will earn a player arcanium.

With this change, players will be able to garner value from unidentified items they do not need. In addition, dismantling items will lead to more arcanium, which can then be used to identify items players do choose to keep.

Lastly, since all item drop rates (regardless of if they can be dismantled for arcanium) will slowly increase as players proceed through the rift labyrinth, we envision that players will dismantle fewer and fewer unidentified items and acquire more and more relics as they progress.

●Job Crests Are Now Easier to Obtain
We have adjusted how players obtain job crests to make them easier to acquire.
Originally, multiplayer offered more opportunities to earn job crests. This was intended as an incentive for players to participate in multiplayer games.
However, the addition of the fusion mechanic increased demand for job crests to the point that standard play would provide an insufficient supply. To rectify this, we have adjusted the amount of crests players earn during regular play to balance demand and provide a more enjoyable experience. On top of that, players who feel they want access to more job crests can still pursue multiplayer to further increase the rate at which they earn crests.

The following three changes have been made to make it easier to obtain job crests:
-The rate of experience gain has been increased further as mission levels increase.
This not only makes it easier to raise job levels, but also increases the frequency at which players will reach the experience milestones at which job crests are earned.
-When acquiring a monster memory through monster training, players will earn the two crests necessary to complete a monster quest.
-Standard treasure chests in the rift labyrinth now have the chance to contain job crests.

We offer our sincere apologies for railroading players into specific playstyles due to balance issues with the game.
We will continue to make balance changes and tweaks to ensure the game remains enjoyable over the long haul, and we hope you all look forward to future patches and updates.
